About Us

Chestnut Brae Farm is a 70-acre idyllic farm that is farmed sustainably using regenerative agriculture and holistic management. The farm is covered by mature organic sweet chestnut forests, mushroom crops, heirloom vegetables and heritage animals. The sweet chestnut trees produce 12 tonnes of chestnuts each autumn, which is used to feed the grazing animals and make sweet flavoured meat.

The chestnuts are also processed to make organic gluten-free chestnut flour, chestnuts in syrup, peeled frozen chestnuts, and other chestnut-based products. The farm also produces chestnut honey and chestnut orchard honey from the European-looking orchards. John and Linda have a passion for healthy living, healthy food and a healthy planet. They purchased the farm in 2013 with the goal of creating a sustainable, organic, self-sufficient farm producing a range of unique chestnut-based products.

The farm’s stunning gardens are part of the Organic Garden Trail, and open for The Festival of Country Gardens, the Nannup Flower and Garden Festival and Bloomin Wild.

The farm is located just 40 minutes from the Busselton Margaret River Airport and 55 minutes inland from Margaret River, making it easily accessible for visitors to come and experience the farm. The farms rolling hills, pastures, permanent flowing springs, and mature chestnut forests give a feeling of being in Europe. The farm is also home to Wiltshire sheep, guinea fowl, heritage pigs, and Alpaca that guard the small flock of sheep.

John and Linda believe that diverse farming is the way of the future and feel it is vital to nurture the soil, traditional skills, organic farming, and food diversity in order to foster future food security and environmental sustainability.
