The Western Australian Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) launched a new podcast on 28 July 2026 aimed at helping agrifood and beverage businesses build export capability. Titled “Food & Beverage – Trade Unpacked”, the series is hosted by international trade strategist Collins Rex and sits within DPIRD’s broader Global Readiness Program.
What the Podcast Covers
The debut episode features Harvest Road chief operating officer Ben Dwyer discussing how international market volatility has become a structural feature of global trade rather than an exception. Confirmed future episodes will address:
- Market selection strategy
- Operational vulnerabilities that emerge when producers move to export-facing models
- Building resilience without over-diversifying supply and market exposure
The podcast is available for download now via the Global Readiness Program webpage.
Export Roundtable Breakfast Series: Remaining Sessions
The podcast complements a four-part roundtable breakfast briefing series, in which more than 20 businesses have already participated. Two sessions remain open for registration:
- 20 August 2026
- 15 October 2026
Both metropolitan and regional agrifood and beverage businesses targeting export market entry are eligible to attend. The format delivers direct access to market intelligence and peer learning from operators at comparable stages of export development.
Strategic Relevance for Agritourism Operators
For agritourism businesses that produce or process food and beverage products — including providores, cellar doors, farm-gate retailers, and value-added producers — export readiness is a direct revenue diversification lever. The roundtable sessions are particularly relevant for operators who have a scalable product but lack structured knowledge of market selection, logistics vulnerabilities, or international buyer expectations.
Participation in the Global Readiness Program carries no advertised cost, making the upcoming sessions a low-barrier entry point for businesses assessing export viability before committing capital.
